The Opioid Crisis: What you need to know! [Thermo Fisher Scientific]Julian Lee
With the Opioid epidemic on the rise, drug testing facilities need to test for a variety of opioids. It is crucial to understand: what tests are currently available, which opioids they detect, which drugs to test for and so much more!
In this webinar, Pat Pizzo discussed the opioid crisis, current trends, what’s causing it, how to address it, current tests available and what you should be testing for and how. She explored historical trends, the crisis today, and how it came into being, sourcing data from various federal organizations and research communities. She discussed the different types of opioids, prescription vs non-prescription (street drugs), and the challenges they present in detection. Drugs discussed in detail included fentanyl, Propoxyphene (PPX), Buprenorphine, and what is currently trending on the street, such as carfentanil, kratom, and krocodil, among others. In conclusion, Pat discussed how you can incorporate currently available opioid tests and make them a part of your drug testing program.
