Welcome
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2nd Annual Online Symposium: Current Trends in Forensics & Forensic Toxicology. The first thing you might notice is a slight change in the title. Last year’s event was so successful, I decided to expand the program to include full-day sessions focused on both seized drug and trace analysis. While a few things have changed, the extraordinary credentials of the keynote speakers remain the same. They are representing some of the foremost authorities in their respective fields.
One of the great strengths of an online symposium is the ability to interact with colleagues from around the globe. Last year, there was such great dialogue between the speakers and the participants during the Q&A sessions that despite best efforts, many questions had to be addressed after the event. Consequently, this year features the addition of a standalone panel discussion at the end of each day to continue to foster this engagement and cross-pollination of ideas.
This expansion of the event would not have been possible without the generous support of this year’s sponsors:
• Agilent Technologies
• RTI Center for Forensic Sciences
• ForensicEd.org
• Forensic Magazine
• Florida International University Global Forensic and Justice Center
• GERSTEL
• KuraBiotec
Throughout the week, our sponsors will be providing valuable additional information on new applications, technologies, and educational opportunities through brief presentations and contributions to the week-long poster session. They will also be participating in the panel discussion to address any questions you might have regarding their products and services. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with what they have to offer and how they can benefit you and your laboratory. It is through their generous support that this event is made available to the forensic community free of charge.
I hope you enjoy the week and learn as much from attending the event as I did organizing it.
Warm Regards,
Thomas J. Gluodenis, Jr., MFS, Ph.D.
